Travel the world from home!

These cold weeks of winter offer very little relief for families with young kids to keep happy and entertained.  The mandatory time inside can be a great opportunity to learn about another area of the world by creating a "virtual tour."

The list of locations to explore virtually is endless so to narrow it down we created a top 10 list of worthy locations to explore together.  Each week during the winter months we plan to choose an area to explore via the internet.  We plan to print pictures, watch authentic movies, create a festive dinner, speak in accents (or try), listen to authentic music, and play games that are all typical of the culture in the area we are learning about.  It should be a great way to learn and have fun.

The first location on my daughters list was Italy.  We made authentic Italian goulash, listened to a traditional Italian streaming radio station, spoke in Italian accents, and looked through several google images of various highlights in the country.

It was a blast, and we all learned a lot!  It was fun to broaden our horizons and develop a deeper appreciation for the differences and depth in the world.
